Dear Sir,
Increase in News Paper Allowance. Your office circular CHO/PMG/43/2022-23 DT 03/01/2023.
We request a reference to the above circular which says that ..
“Bank has shown continuous business growth in the last few quarters . As a gesture of benevolence towards our staff department has proposed REVISION in limit of bank’s facility of News Paper/ Magazine for all employees”.
We are very happy to welcome the gesture shown by the Bank in revising the quantum. Disappointingly revision is not applied to the substaff who too are part of the work force and deserve similar gesture. Rather the quantum is revised down wards from Rs 110 to Rs 100, while for all other sections of employees quantum has been revised upward. We are rather surprised and unable to understand why this lower rung of the workforce is denied the BENEVOLENCE. Benevolence must be without discrimination and should not result in hurting any section, particularly the one which is at the poor end of the work force. You may be aware that when the issue of news paper was first discussed it was our firm stand that there should be no discrimination between the cadres a tleast among the workman. The then Management agreed with our views and demand and introduced the facility granting uniformly Rs 110 to all – both substaff and non substaff in clerical cadre. Now in the name of Benevolence and revision substaff members are put to injured feelings with reduction in the quantum. IT is not out of place to say that their total strength in the Bank is negligible and cost implications are not there.

We therefore urge upon the Management to appreciate our above claim/ concern and take steps to grant Rs 150 to substaff members – on par with their counterpart in the workman cadre.
We shall be thankful for extend the Benevolence in real spirit to the members of substaff too. Thanking you
Yours faithfully,
C.M. Patel General Secretary
