AIUCBEF Raises Alarm Over Clerical Shortfall in UCO Bank

Date: 30 June 2026

AIUCBEF has written to the Chief General Manager, HRM, PSD, OL & Training, seeking urgent intervention over the shortage of clerical staff in UCO Bank. The letter focuses on the gap that has emerged after the bank’s clerical recruitment exercise under IBPS CRP-CSA-XV.

According to the letter, UCO Bank had indented for 418 clerical vacancies. However, around 115 selected candidates did not join, and only 81 candidates were ultimately allotted from the reserve list. AIUCBEF says this has left a continuing shortfall of about 34 against the bank’s requirement.

The federation says many branches are already operating with inadequate clerical strength, and some branches are functioning as zero-clerk branches. It argues that this is affecting customer service, operational efficiency, and the smooth handling of daily branch work.

AIUCBEF has requested the bank’s leadership to examine the matter and fill the remaining shortfall at the earliest. The federation says timely addition of clerical manpower will reduce pressure on existing staff and improve overall efficiency across the bank.

Key figures mentioned in the enclosure:

Initial allotted: 418
Finally allotted: 389
Not joined: 115
Allotted from reserve list: 81
Less indented: 34

The letter is signed by Partha Chanda, General Secretary, and includes an enclosure with state and zone-wise allotment details.
