Working Committee of All India UCO Bank Employees Federation was held at Jalandhar on 7th & 8th February, 2023 . Com. P. D. Singh, Vice-Chairman was in the Chair.
Welcoming the participants, Com. H. S. Veer Org. Secretary of our Punjab unit- Host unit – thanked the Federation for giving them the opportunity to host the Working Committee which is the first meeting in this calendar year. He expressed confidence that the meeting, being held in the back ground of our ensuing conference of AIUCBEF – our All India organisation, challenges staring at us as our Bank as well as at Industry level assumes lot of importance.
Initiating the proceedings, Com.P. D. Singh, Vice-Chairman, underlined the importance of the meeting. He also appreciated and complimentd the host unit, Punjab for making excellent arrangements, for all important meeting, just before the ensuing All India Conference of our Federation. He expressed his regrets that, for the first time in almost last four decades, he is participating in the working committee meeting in absence of Com. Vijhayan – President of our Federation, who could not come due to ill health of his wife. However Com. P. D. Singh appreciated participation of, all most all the Units of our Federation. He then paying tribute to our great leaders from Punjab, Com. Krishan Lal and Com. Harish Bhabhuta garlanded their photos. The entire house there after paid their tributes.
Com. General Secretary then read out the notice of the meeting and asked Com. Partha, Deputy General Secretary of our Federation to place the minutes of the Nagpur Working Committee meeting. The said minutes were passed unanimously.
Com. General Secretary then dealt at length regarding developments at Industry level. He dealt with the performance of Banking industry as well as our Bank in particular. He
also reported in details regarding the struggles and strike calls given by our parent organisation AIBEA and that of UFBU in recent past. He also congratulated all our units for active participation in all the struggles. Comrade General Secretary applauded all the Units for active and enthusiastic involvement in carrying out the agitational programmes in our Bank, as decided in the Nagpur Working Committee meeting. He recalled as to how the implimentation of the last phase of our agitation, that of Dharna at the footsteps of our Head Office by Kolkota unit, broke the impasse and paved way for discussions on all issues including providing adequate manpower at branches. He reported about the discussions and the out come of the various meetings with the Management, including that of staff welfare fund. Preparations and progress towards celebrations of Diamond Jubilee of our Federation and 16th conference were reported. He gave details of the conferences of units already held and ones scheduled to be held in near future. While dealing with the tasks before us he emphasised the need to keep utmost vigilant eye on membership position and take effective timely steps to strengthen our base so as to be in preparedness for any organizational call. He called upon units to ensure that a spirited young team is put in place so as to enable organisational resistance to all types of offensives on our working conditions and our union.
Com. Partha, dealt at length regarding the details of the preparations and the arrangements for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the 16th conference of our Federation. He also called uopn the units to send the various details in the formats already made available to units during the course of the meeting. He presented the budget in respect of expenses for the conference and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Com. General Secretary placed the fund position before the house and called upon those units who are yet to remit part/full payment immediately without any further delay. Infact most of the units have already complyed with their obligations.
Com. General Secretary placed the tentative programme of the 16th Conference and grand finale of Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
General Secretary emphasised that all units should respectively invite the ex-office bearers of our Federation stationed in their respective unit and make their conveyance arrangements so as to honour them, as a part of celebration of Diamond Jubilee of the Federation.
As decided in the working committee meeting at Nagpur, Convener of the committee Com. K. P. Antani, for recommending the amendments to the Rules and Constitution of our Federation, placed the proposed amendments for consideration and adoption of the same. After due deliberations the same were passed and adopted uenimousely.
It was decided to convene working committee meeting through virtual mode by 25th /26th March 2023 for approval of GS report of the 16th Conference.
General Secretary then replied the deliberations on the report placed to the house, giving clerification to the issues raised by the members. He also crystallized the over-all IR/HR senerio prevailing in the Bank and in the light of which we need to strengthen our organisation, undertake drive to increase our membership and make our organisation more vibrant.
Com. Virk General Secretary of Jalandar District committee of PNBEF addressed our Working Committee Meeting by his eloquent speech.
Entire house appreciated and thanked the host unit Punjab for their hospitality, arrangements, caring camaraderie, with standing ovation and thunderous claps.
Meeting was then declared concluded by the President.
